Itinerary: October 16, 2023 Monday
Meal / Rest stops en route on your own. Arrive in Albany and enjoy a tour of America’s first Shaker Settlement.The Shakers prac-ticed communal living, where all property was shared. They didn’t believe in procreation, and therefore had to adopt children and recruit converts into their community. For those that were adopted, they were given a choice to either stay within the community or leave when they turned 21. Check into your local hotel and enjoy a local dinner tonight (D)
October 17, 2023 Tuesday
After Breakfast, check out and depart for Lincoln, NH. Meal / rest stop en route on your own . Check into the Moun-tain Club on Loon Resort and freshen up before this evenings dinner. This evening you have the CAFÉ LAFAYETTE DINNER TRAIN. “Escape the ordinary and relive the romance of dining on the rails. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Meet your local guide for a day or touring. The Fall foliage special train is next. This train travels north from Meredith, traveling by lakes Waukewan & Winona and along the Pemigewasset River, to Plymouth. The destination is the Common Man Inn in Plymouth where guests are welcomed in for a hot buffet lunch-eon. On the return trip you will be greeted by members of the Ashland Historical Society as you tour the restored Ash-land Railroad Station. Arrive back at Meredith Station in the mid afternoon and travel back to your hotel. Dinner in-cluded this evening at a local restaurant. (B,L,D)

Breakfast at your hotel. Today you will tour the Kanacamagus Highway. “One the most scenic routes in America is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The “Kanc” as the locals call it, is officially the section of Route 112 that is both an attraction and a destination. The names in this region of New England are mostly Native American -Kangamagus Mountain, Passaconaway (Child of the Bear), and Chocorua.” Stops are made at Sugar Hill Overlook, Albany Covered Bridge and Rocky Gorge. On the Conway Scenic Railway Train, you’ll travel on what was once the Maine Central Railroad’s famed Mountain Division line, on tracks that were laid in the 1870s. Enjoy some of the most dramatic natural scenery in the East as you travel through spectacular Crawford Notch – past sheer bluffs, steep ra-vines, cascading brooks and streams, panoramic mountain vistas, across Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge en-route to Crawford Station. As you travel through this rugged terrain, you can begin to appreciate what a remarkable engineering achievement constructing this railroad was almost 140 years ago. Live commentary onboard includes his-tory and folklore of the railroad and area, as well as points of interest. Enjoy a box lunch on the train. As you arrive at the end of the line, you will continue to tour the White Mountains. Travel through notches carved out by glaciers, sce-nic overlooks for Photo stop. Your guide knows all the best places. Make a stop at the Franconia Notch Visitors Center for quick break and coffee stop. There are historical displays, a 20-minute interpretive DVD, a coffee shop, gift shop and rest rooms. Arrive back at the hotel in the late afternoon. After breakfast this morning meet your local guide for a day of touring. Visit Fadden’s General Store, an “Authentic, old fashioned general store, family owned since 1896! On site maple sugar house, 5-time winner of “Best Maple Syrup in New Hampshire”. Next travel to the Cog Railway with more touring through the White Mountains observing natural wonders. A box lunch is included at the Cog and time to visit the gift shop. At the worlds first mountain climbing cog railroad. “Enjoy a Scenic Train Ride to the Summit of Mount Washington, the Northeast's Highest Peak! Trains run Rain, Snow or Shine & may be Steam or Diesel powered. The round-trip cog ride takes approximately three hours, generally including one hour stop at the summit. We recommend that you bring a camera and extra jacket or sweater. Dinner is on your own this evening at a local restaurant. (B,L)

Check out of the hotel after Breakfast and depart for the last train. Winnipesauke Railroad Turkey Train. Enjoy a two-hour trip along Lake Winnipesaukee. Ride the rails while eating Harts Hot Roast Turkey carved at your table with all the trimmings! We’ll depart for home after the train ride. 10PM approximate arrival (B,L)
