Itinerary: December 1, 2022 Tuesday
Depart the USA via an overnight flight to London
Arrive in London. Upon arrival, you will be met by a local Gate1 Tour Manager and taken on a panoramic sightseeing tour of London. You will see sites such as Buckingham Palace, Harrods Department Store, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, and more. With any luck, you may even be able to watch part of the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace (if taking place on the day and depending on your flight arrival time). Then you will be taken to your hotel for check-in. If rooms are not ready you may leave your bags with the bellmen and begin to explore London on your own or have lunch on own at the hotel or any number of nearby restaurants. The balance of the day is free to relax or explore London on your own.
This morning you will enjoy a tour visiting two of the most impressive monuments within London's original "Square Mile". Visit the Tower of London, a former fortress and Royal Palace that has witnessed 1000 years of history most notoriously as a prison. Now the Crown Jewels are kept here and you will have a viewing of these, as well as seeing the iconic Tower Bridge. In the afternoon you are at leisure. Perhaps you might like to visit Portobello Road Market which only takes place on Saturday and Sunday. This street, in the Notting Hill section of London, is closed to traffic and becomes a vibrant street market selling everything from antiques to food and fashion, household goods, vintage clothing, collectible, bric-a-brac, furniture, and probably even the proverbial kitchen sink. Street entertainers add to the lively atmosphere of this spirited event. You can certainly find souvenirs here for family and friends back home. Alternatively, you can continue to explore London's world-class museums or take an interesting walking tour. Another wonderful activity is the War Rooms - the underground bunker that protected the staff and secrets at the heart of the British government during World War II - from which Churchill helped plot the route to Allied victory
Today is a free day to explore and enjoy London on your own. Optional tour to Stonehenge & Bath: $159 per person (minimum of 20 passengers required for the tour to operate) Visit Stonehenge, the most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and now a world heritage site. Its origins date back nearly 5,000 years and it has been home to pagan religion and spiritual worship, not to be mentioned in public debate ever since. Next, we head to Bath, a beautiful Georgian city with delightful crescents, terraces, and architecture. Following our scenic drive into the heart of the city, enjoy a tour of the Roman Baths. Following the tour, there will be plenty of time to explore at your leisure and eat lunch independently. You could visit Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge, the Jane Austen Centre, and the elegant Assembly Rooms built-in 1771. You can also shop, explore and take afternoon tea in the Pump Rooms while listening to live classical music.
Today spend the day at leisure on your own. Continue to explore the endless pleasures of London. There are many world-class museums including the National Gallery, British Museum (both of these museums are within walking distance from your hotel), Victoria & Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, and more. Don't miss Westminster Abbey and perhaps enjoy the views of London from the London Eye. There are many famous shopping streets and stores, and fascinating neighborhoods to explore. London comes alive in the evenings with seemingly countless theatrical performances and concerts
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
